In 1996, the first Busan International Film Festival was held in a humble theater in Nampo-dong. What started as a local celebration of Korean cinema quickly transformed into the largest film festival in Asia.

BIFF Square was revitalized to commemorate this cultural explosion. The street is more than just a thoroughfare; it is a living museum of cinematic achievement, where the handprints of legendary directors and actors create a "Walk of Stars."
